Maharashtra's Economic Vision: Seizing Geopolitical Opportunity Held on 25th June 2025 at Jio Convention Center, BKC, Mumbai We hosted the concluding plenary session on "Global Value Chain and Maharashtra - Seizing the Geopolitical Opportunity" at the Jio Convention Center. The discussion focused on how Maharashtra can navigate the current global economic landscape, identify new opportunities, and accelerate sustainable growth to achieve its ambitious economic targets of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2029 and a $5 trillion economy by 2047. Velrasu (IAS)– CEO, MIDC Piyush Doshi– Operating Partner, The Convergence Foundation Mr V Thiagarajan – Managing Director, Blue Star Limited Shardul Fadnavis- Partner & Leader, PwC Key takeaways from the discussion included: The critical need to lower energy costs for export-oriented industries, with a target of ₹4 per unit through open access. Emphasis on creating a robust physical, financial, and social ecosystem for industries to thrive, addressing high energy and land costs as significant barriers.India's unique geopolitical position and projected 6-7% growth, making it an attractive destination, but stressing that private sector involvement requires stable and continuous policy. The importance of integrating manufacturing with R&D, and fostering stronger collaboration between MIDC and academia. "This isn't just about economic growth—it's about strategic positioning, fostering resilience, and building a sustainable future for Maharashtra."
