At Micropep, we talk daily about the “state of the industry” in crop protection and ag biologicals – and where the real opportunities and challenges lie. Our CEO, Georg Goeres, shared an observation following World Agri-Tech in San Francisco that really resonated with our team. From Georg: “World Agri-Tech reinforced something important — our industry is talking more across silos than ever before. Startups and large corporates are increasingly sitting at the same table, challenging each other and shaping solutions together. That’s a shift worth noting. Yet the investment tells a different story. Of the estimated 150–200 billion dollars invested in R&D for crop protection over the last 30+ years, only around 10-15 billion has gone into biologicals so far. It raises an important question: how can we expect comparable progress speed under the same level of scrutiny with a fraction of the investment? We can’t expect biologicals to outperform conventional pesticides overnight when they’ve only received ~10% of the investment. The real opportunity is to optimize what we have by collaborating more closely and fully leveraging existing investments in biologicals. If we’re serious about unlocking the potential of biologicals, we need to rethink the expectations, investment models, and benchmarks we apply. The conversation is starting. Now it needs to evolve. I’m looking forward to continuing this dialogue at World Agri-Tech South America in São Paulo.” If you’ll be in São Paulo for World Agri-Tech South America, please reach out. The Micropep team would love to continue the discussion on how – together - we can the impact of biologicals together. https://lnkd.in/g_XtuPSj #Micropep #AgBiologicals #CropProtection #AgInnovation #Peptides
