๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ฎ ๐๐๐ฏ๐บ๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐บ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ ๐ผ๐ณ๐ณ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ Senate Minority Leader Kurt Fevella (District 19 - โEwa Beach, Ocean Pointe, โEwa by Gentry, Iroquois Point, portion of โEwa Villages) recently submitted testimony to the U.S. Department of Energyโs National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) opposing the placement of offshore wind turbines in Hawaiสปiโs waters, citing potential harm to marine life and difficulties of maintaining the turbines as reasons to reconsider the proposal. NREL is currently working to place wind turbines in waters off the nationโs shores in an effort to provide clean energy to coastal cities and the larger national grid. The agency is also considering the potential of wind turbines in Hawaiสปi to help the state reach its goal of 100% renewable energy by 2045.
