NREL is currently working to place wind turbines in waters off the nationโ€™s shores in an effort to provide clean energy to coastal cities and the larger national grid. The agency is also considering the potential of wind turbines in Hawaiสปi to help the state reach its goal of 100% renewable energy by 2045.
