"A wealth of information creates a poverty of attention." Herbert Simon wrote that in 1971. At #InnovationM by Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA in Berlin yesterday— under the banner "beyond the hype" — real signals overweight noise. What AI looks in practice: we can produce more messages, campaigns and content than ever, and only a shrinking share of it is even measurable, let alone noticed. More output, same attention. AI doesn't fix that equation, it accelerates it. So the real question isn't how much you can now produce. It's whether you have the stance to be worth the attention. Three things stayed with me: - Without a goal and a clear stance, AI stays too complex to give you any security in the hard decisions. It can open and secure new opportunities — or just briefly optimize processes that were never the point. - Better data beats better AI models. AI doesn't fix what's broken underneath, it scales it. "X years of experience" mean little if you have spent them doing the wrong things and deny to adapt to the new rules — and the successful innovators often come from outside your industry. - Character beats capability — for people and for organizations. As one slide put it: it's not the community that's the product, it's the system that makes it activatable. What a great event - thanks for organizing Dirk Kemmerer with your team @stefan fiedler and Oliver Reinke. I spent much time these days with our companies of our family on exactly this: how to adapt products, processes and reporting — and how to create revenue by actually meeting customer needs. Thank you Markus Adomeit Fabian Dietz Sebastian Stein Dr. Magnus Baringer Stefan Morschheuser Michael Friedmann Markus Maki Ilona Veth and many more. Besides people I also try to find new sources to keep updated: 👇 Question: which easily digestible podcasts do you use to keep yourself fit on AI and its real implementation? #innovationM #beyondthehype #AI #Leadership #Data #Marketing Great to meet and talk to Sandra Kho Silke Kassuba Inka Gelbrich Carsten Diepenbrock Michael Baumann
