A quiet structural shift: “doctoral-level output” is expanding from the dissertation to validated artefacts + an evidence pack (prototype, pilot data, manufacturability/adoption pathway). New models are emerging – while most European doctoral regulations remain thesis-centred. A pragmatic side effect: artefact-centred examination reduces the surface area for “LLM-inflated” text in written assessments. SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen is helping to set the direction. #DoctoralEducation #SciencePolicy #InnovationPolicy #DeepTech #TechTransfer #PhD Citation: Bojdys, M.
