Percutaneous nephrostomy is a minimally invasive procedure used to relieve obstruction within the urinary system, where blocked urine flow can rapidly increase pressure within the kidney 🩺 In ureteral obstruction, urine is unable to drain normally, causing pressure to build up within the renal collecting system, which may compromise kidney function if not treated promptly 🩻 The first priority in management is decompression, as reducing this pressure helps protect the kidney from ongoing damage and stabilises the patient. A nephrostomy tube is inserted through the skin into the kidney under imaging guidance to allow urine to drain externally, restoring flow and relieving pressure. This approach supports immediate symptom relief and protects long-term renal function. To learn more about interventional radiology procedures, please visit our website 👉🏾 https://lnkd.in/e7-spEce
