⚡ One component. Two functions. A first for powder metallurgy. The R&D team at Miba Sinter Austria in Vorchdorf has developed a sintered copper component that combines electrical conductivity and active water cooling in a single part – used in CCS2 connectors for high-power EV fast-charging systems. The component supports charging power of up to 850 kilowatts, contributing to full charges in well under ten minutes. Achieving this requires a highly complex geometry that benefits directly from the design freedom of powder metallurgy. What makes this project particularly noteworthy: – First-ever use of copper powder in a Miba series production project – 99% relative density, matching the electrical and thermal conductivity of solid copper – Better machinability than solid copper, thanks to the residual porosity typical of the sintering process – reducing tool wear and improving processing efficiency – Established sinter process route, adaptable to future copper applications already in development For the Miba Sinter Group, this project marks both a technological milestone and a starting point for further copper powder applications already in development. #Miba #powdermetallurgy #emobility #innovationinmotion #technologiesforacleanerplanet #sintering
