Thrilled to Announce Two New NIH R01 Grant Awards ($2.4 Million Total): ย  1) I am thrilled to share that I received an NIH R01 award (~$1.2 million) from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) as the PI to develop a smart pacifier with AI-guided intraoral multimodal active sound-sensing technology for infant breathing monitoring. I am excited to start this 4-year project with incredible Co-Investigators Dr. S. Abdollah Mirbozorgi (UAB), Dr. Namasivayam Ambalavanan (UAB School of Medicine), Dr. Colm P. Travers (UAB School of Medicine), and Dr. Smriti Bhatt (Purdue). 2) I am also grateful and excited to be part of another $1.2 million NIH R01 award from the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), led by PI Dr. S. Abdollah Mirbozorgi at UAB to develop a cutting-edge implant leveraging advanced circuitry and edge-AI analysis of vagus nerve signaling pathways for diabetes care and reversal. Other UAB Co-investigators include: Dr. Amy Warriner, Dr. Ananda Basu, Dr. Rita Basu, and Dr. Benjamin Larimer (UAB). I am happy to serve as Purdueโ€™s PI and a Co-Investigator on this 4-year effort. ย  Thanks to the National Science Foundation (NSF) / The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Smart and Connected Health Program, NHLBI, NCCIH, Dr. Ken Burbank, Dr. Baijian Yang, Dr. Daniel Castro-Lacouture, Dr. Rami Ghannam, and my wonderful students!
