Our latest MHEX newsletter is out, and this edition covers a lot of ground. Three new pieces of research from our team, including: 🧠 The 2026 ESSA Consensus Statement, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, formalises the role of Exercise Physiologists within mental health care, including a nationally endorsed framework for scope of practice and best-practice principles. MHEX leads A/Prof Bonnie Furzer and A/Prof Kemi Wright are among the authors. 🎧 A new protocol paper introducing Auditory-Cued Exercise Therapy (ACET), a pioneering program combining movement, music, and auditory training for children aged 7 to 12 with listening difficulties. 💪 Preliminary findings from our chest binding and exercise study, which found no significant difference in lung function, strength, fitness, or comfort whether participants exercised in a binder or not. An important step in addressing a real barrier to physical activity for trans and gender diverse people. If you work in exercise physiology, mental health, allied health, education, or community health, this is research worth knowing about.
