🎓 𝗣𝗵𝗗 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 | 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝘅𝗲𝗹 Today 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, at 16:00 CET, Stan van Boxel will defend his PhD thesis at Maastricht University. Our sense of balance is something most of us rarely think about—until it no longer works. For people with severe vestibular disorders, everyday activities such as walking, driving, or even standing upright can become a challenge. In his PhD research, Stan van Boxel explored the development of the vestibular implant, a promising technology designed to restore balance function. His work bridges the gap between fundamental electrophysiology and the practical challenges of fitting and optimizing this innovative implant for patients, bringing the field one step closer to clinical application.
