MG Engineering has successfully collaborated with Flinders Port Holdings Pty Limited from concept stage, through to building and commissioning of the Wharfside 1 vessel. This project highlights the importance of building sovereign maritime capability from the ground up. Our early modular barge builds were initially developed to keep our workforce engaged and continue training during fluctuations in workload, particularly as we prepared to support naval vessel programs. That investment in skills and capability has now matured into a highly sophisticated self-propelled modular barge solution delivering real operational value for Flinders Port Holdings via having its own capability in maintaining the its maritime infrastructure locally in Port Adelaide, as well as its others locations within Australia.
