The Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR) partners are deeply concerned by allegations of planned violence against Bulgarian investigative journalist Dimitar Stoyanov, following his reporting on crime and corruption: https://lnkd.in/e_X9nRCD Despite two separate and credible reports alleging attempts to organise an attack against the journalist, no concrete protective measures have reportedly been put in place. We call on the Bulgarian authorities to: 🔸 Guarantee Dimitar Stoyanov's safety. 🔸 Urgently clarify the status of ongoing investigations. 🔸 Ensure threats against journalists are treated as a matter of public safety. 🔸 Uphold European standards protecting media freedom and the safety of journalists.
