Today, our flags will fly at half-mast as we pause in collective reflection. On this National Day of Mourning, our hearts are heavy with the memory of the 15 lives taken so tragically during the Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach. We stand in quiet solidarity with the families, the friends and the many lives that were forever changed by this act of violence. The national theme, "Light will win – a gathering of unity and remembrance," reminds us that even in the darkest moments, hope and compassion prevail. Today, we choose to remember.
