Bonds, private credit or equities – where is the income opportunity today? Metrics Group CEO & Managing Partner, Andrew Lockhart, recently joined Livewire Markets’ Christopher Conway, alongside Adam Bowe CFA, GAICD (PIMCO) and Matthew Haupt (Wilson Asset Management), for a Livewire Income Series panel discussion. The panel explored how the income landscape has evolved, and the different roles bonds, equities and private credit can play in portfolio construction as investors continue to focus on income. A key theme from the discussion was that no single asset class “wins” outright—bonds, equities and private credit each play a different role in portfolio construction, with varying risk, return and income characteristics. As Andrew noted, “the key strength in private credit is that closeness to the borrower,” reflecting the ability to directly structure and manage lending exposures and risk.
