Metirra is pleased to announce today a new development collaboration with Queen's University (Ontario, Canada). Under the agreement, researchers at the Sinclair Cancer Research Institute and Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University, will partner with Metirra to conduct clinical studies on the company’s proprietary prostate cancer metabolic biomarker panel. The studies will evaluate the panel's performance in the diagnosis and risk stratification of critical histopathologic features at biopsy. The project will leverage Queen’s world-class clinical infrastructure, access to extensive genomic databases, curated biorepositories, and expertise in oncology biomarker and therapeutic target research. Data generated from the study will be used to support clinical application and real-world use of Metirra’s recently launched metabolic test, MetaNos Dx™. Metirra’s technology is based on a IHC panel of three proprietary biomarkers (APPL-1, Sortilin, Syndecan-1) which characterize the metabolic signature of a tumor. This biomarker panel differentiates glucose-to-lipid metabolic transitions in tumor tissue, correlating with low-grade (glucose metabolizing) or high-grade (lipid metabolizing) cancers. The resulting metabolic profile identifies how aggressive the tumor is, and may also sensitively identify or differentiate pathologic findings, such as benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN) and cribriform glands.
