Did you know that there is currently as much zinc in use above ground as there is left to mine? This is exactly why recycling secondary materials is the future of our industry. Producing Special High Grade (SHG) zinc generally happens via two routes: - Primary (from mined concentrates): Follows the traditional roasting, leaching, electrolysis, smelting process. - Secondary (from recycled residues): Skips traditional roasting. Instead, secondary materials pass through a Waelz kiln before moving on to leaching, electrolysis, and smelting. The biggest advantage of the secondary route? The same quality of pure SHG zinc with less waste in landfills and reduced impact from primary mining. We don't always need to dig deeper to find premium materials. We just need to recycle smarter. ♻️
