Close to one month ago, a true "never event" happened. A devastating warehouse fire disrupted access to many of the supplies our clinicians count on every day. What happened next reminded me why I love the work we do. As the clinical arm of Supply Chain, our Value-Based Management (VBM) team quickly shifted into action alongside our supply chain and clinical partners. Our focus was simple: ensure patient care was not impacted while making thoughtful, evidence-based decisions about alternative products. I couldn't be prouder of this team. Chudi Atuegbu was an absolute rockstar. He dove headfirst into evaluating substitute items, partnering with clinicians to crosswalk alternatives, researching options, building dashboards, and helping bring clarity during a rapidly changing situation. Supaporn Som Thongnuan immediately became boots on the ground, working side-by-side with supply chain teams and clinicians to ensure caregivers had the right tools at the right time. And when Le Jian returned and learned the situation was far more than figurative—it was literally a fire—her first response was, "How can I help?" She immediately stepped in to cover weekends and holidays so others could get a much-needed break. Moments like these remind me that value analysis is about much more than products and processes. It's about relationships, trust, clinical partnership, and showing up when it matters most. I'm incredibly grateful for this team and for the countless clinicians and supply chain professionals who worked around the clock to keep care moving forward.
