What would it take to make CMV prevention part of routine pregnancy care in Australia? This #CMVAwarenessMonth, Mercy Health Foundation is highlighting the leading research of Professor Lisa Hui, whose work is helping transform how congenital CMV is understood, detected, prevented and treated in early pregnancy.    CMV is common, preventable and still largely unknown — yet in Australia, 1 in 300 babies are born with lifelong disabilities caused by this virus. Through first‑trimester testing, counselling, targeted screening and treatment pathways, Professor Hui’s research is building a stronger model of care for women and their babies.     With further investment, this work could be expanded across multiple states and help integrate CMV awareness, prevention and treatment into routine pregnancy care nationwide.
