Great updates from the #WHS Regional in Nairobi. Merck is part of a coordinated, multisectoral effort - engaging with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Coordination and Development (Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ), media and key stakeholders - to strengthen Africa’s health systems and advance universal health coverage. Our Kenya collaboration with Universal Corporation Limited - for technology and knowledge transfer - highlights our commitment to defeating #schistosomiasis and expanding local manufacturing capacity. Beyond production, we address high-burden non-communicable diseases such as hypothyroidism, advance discussions for women’s health (including on female genital schistosomiasis) and promote data equity. These efforts reflect our global health leadership and deep regional engagement, built on purpose-driven partnerships. Together, we are working towards accelerating access to essential medicines and strengthening resilient health systems in and for Africa, aligning with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals.
