What if your body could tell you something was wrong before you even felt it? That's the vision behind the 2026 Merck Future Insight Prize and this year’s laureate Vasilis Ntziachristos! His pioneering work in optoacoustic imaging is paving the way for smart health sensors that continuously and non-invasively monitor the human body, enabling early unprecedented disease detection. Since 2018 the Merck Future Insight Prize honors and enables scientists whose work helps to solve some of the biggest problems of humanity. This year’s Merck Future Insight Prize was awarded in the field of Smart Health Sensors and comes with a €300.000 research grant. Ntziachristos is founder and owner of Spear UG, Chair of Biological Imaging at TUM and Director of the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging at Helmholtz Munich, Germany. Congratulations!
