There was a time when many children born with sickle cell disease in Uganda did not live to celebrate their fifth birthday. Today, thanks to earlier diagnosis, better treatment, and ongoing care, many are growing into adulthood, pursuing careers, attending university, and living full lives. That is why awareness matters. That is why early testing matters. That is why regular follow-up care matters.
