A few months ago, I asked this community to help me pick a title for my book. And it's here! There were over 327 comments on my post to come up with the title for my book. The comments conveyed that the title should show the experience of doing this work, the uncertainty we face, the requests that don't come with answers, and the human part of our work that's sometimes the hardest part. I'm excited to share the title of the book! It's called Getting Unstuck in Learning Design. Getting Unstuck in Learning Design is built around stories. 30+ stories from people in situations you'll likely all recognize, figuring it out how to keep moving forward to deliver work. I really wanted the book to focus on stories where you put yourself in someone else's shoes and suddenly see a way through your own problem. A few examples of what you'll find inside: ➡️ A team had built hundreds of performance support materials outside their LMS but had no way to prove anyone was using them. They taught themselves a new data spec from scratch, ran a small pilot, and got their first engagement data. What started as one team's problem became infrastructure for the whole company. That's the chapter on finding what drives you forward. ➡️ A compliance training rollout needed to reach learners across 32 languages. The right people weren't brought in early enough, decisions moved fast, and by the time learning experts flagged the risks, the project was already committed. It launched, but the solution was fragile and hard to maintain. That's the chapter on deciding what to build. ➡️ Accommodation consultants needed to assess job sites to recommend placements, but travel was slow and photos weren't enough. A team built virtual tours from drone footage and 360° video instead. One investment in reusable footage ended up supporting recruiting, workplace planning, and the company's AI knowledge base. That's the chapter on multiplying your impact. A massive thanks to everyone who shared stories for the book including Tim Slade Cassie Nii Zsolt Olah Myra Roldan, CEO UnDesto AI, CAIO, CSSSP Sarah Mercier Nathan Norman Sydney Nordquist John Pinkster Amy O'Donnell Lueth Dan Thatcher Ashley Chiasson Megan Torrance Amanda Nguyễn 🦊Mark Oehlert 🦔 Karl Kapp Betty Dannewitz Brandon Lynn Cara North Josh Cavalier LaTonya Wilkins Heidi Mitrovich and more! Along with the amazing team at ATD including Bianca Woods and Jack Harlow. And to this community, you greatly influenced the direction of the entire book including the title. Thank you so much for being a part of this process. More to come on the book over the next few months! #InstructionalDesign #eLearning #LearningandDevelopment
