During my PhD, I developed lipoprotein ontology and learned how to structure complex data so it remains connected, meaningful, and usable over time. It feels like a full-circle moment to see ontologies gaining traction again, especially in pharma, as a way to bring structure to the exponential growth of data. The European Medicines Agency has now set regulatory deadlines for the Product Management Service (PMS), enabling ISO IDMP. By Dec 2026 / June 2027, manufacturer and product data must be standardised, accurate, and correctly submitted to remain compliant. But this is not just about regulation. It is about enabling faster decisions, better collaboration, and ultimately getting therapies to patients sooner. We are happy to be working with ACCURIDS together with our data community to build a data backbone that connects data from the first experiments on a molecule to the drug product reaching a patient.
