Dr Florian Fleermuys – a specialist neurosurgeon with a special interest in brain tumour surgery and spinal pathology – is now in private practice at Mediclinic Brits. Dr Fleermuys obtained his MBChB degree from the University of Pretoria, subsequently completing his postgraduate training and earning his Master of Medicine (MMed) in Neurosurgery, qualifying as a specialist in 2025. Following his specialist qualification, Dr Fleermuys completed a fellowship in spine surgery at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, where he further developed his expertise in advanced spinal procedures. Dr Fleermuys’ special interests include brain tumour surgery and the management of spinal pathology, with a particular focus on minimally invasive spine surgery and endoscopic spine techniques.
