The better we understand how the body responds to #malaria, the better we can design the medicines to fight it. MMV recently convened experts in clinical trials, immunology, modelling and machine learning to help define the data needed to build AI-powered models of the immune response to malaria. These models could support better decisions throughout drug development, from selecting the most promising compounds to optimizing doses for different patient groups, particularly children and pregnant women. Supported by the Gates Foundation, this initiative is one of three new MMV projects using AI and machine learning to accelerate drug discovery and help researchers make better decisions at every stage of development. AI is only as powerful as the data behind it. Building that foundation starts with conversations like these.
