A neuroprosthetic “double neural bypass” helped a 42-year-old man with complete tetraplegia move his hand, drink from a cup, feed himself, and control grip on delicate objects. The system also recognized intended hand movements for more than five months without repeated retraining, and some wrist touch persisted for more than two months after stimulation stopped. Further testing in more people is still needed.
