While Organ Donor Awareness Week 2026 has come to a close, the critical work behind every transplant continues every day. At MSC, we wanted to highlight the vital role blood bank laboratories play in every organ transplant. Behind each successful transplant is a team of medical scientists carrying out time-critical compatibility testing to ensure procedures can proceed safely. We are also proud to share that four new Werfen Neo Iris analysers are now fully installed and live at the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service (NIBTS), supporting a service that processes approximately 158,000 blood grouping and antibody screening tests each year across Northern Ireland. A huge thank you to the NIBTS Automated Serology Laboratory team for their dedication and collaboration throughout the project.
