MediaTek, Ericsson, and KDDI Corporation completed the world’s first in-field joint demonstration of L1/L2 Triggered Mobility (LTM) using Ericsson’s Radio Access Network (RAN). The demonstration shows that low-latency mobility can reduce data interruption during a cell change by 25% compared to legacy Layer 3 mobility. The success of this demonstration opens the door for on-the-move mobile real-time applications in Japan across XR, autonomous/remote operations, industrial automation, and public safety, alongside AI and cloud.
