🧬 Beyond T cells: are dendritic cells the missing link in lung cancer immunotherapy? A new review highlights the growing role of neoantigen-based dendritic cell (DC) vaccines in shaping more effective and personalized immunotherapy strategies. This work highlights Jens C. Rückert, , and colleagues, bringing attention to the often underappreciated role of dendritic cells in antitumor immunity. While most current immunotherapies focus on T-cell activation, this review emphasizes that dendritic cells are essential for initiating and directing these responses. In lung cancer, tumor-infiltrating DCs can also contribute to immune suppression, limiting the effectiveness of checkpoint inhibitors. Neoantigen-based DC vaccines aim to overcome this by enhancing antigen presentation and generating more precise, tumor-specific immune responses, offering a promising path toward personalized immunotherapy. 💡 Takeaway: Targeting dendritic cells—especially through neoantigen-driven vaccines—may help overcome resistance and improve the durability of immunotherapy responses in lung cancer. 📄 https://lnkd.in/e-S6p5CP #LungCancer #Immunotherapy #CancerVaccines #PrecisionOncology #TumorMicroenvironment
