Stronger. More stable. More flexible. The requirements for modern optical fiber ribbons continue to evolve. High fiber density and easy fiber separation remain essential. At the same time, increasing demands on mechanical stability and robustness require new approaches to ribbon design. With Medek & Schörner's IGF Intermittent Ribbon Bonding Line, manufacturers gain greater flexibility in configuring ribbon structures - including the option of applying bonds to both the top and bottom side of the ribbon. Double-sided bonding improves ribbon form stability, distributes mechanical loads more evenly across the structure, and increases mechanical robustness while maintaining the advantages of intermittent bonding. An additional advantage is the ability to tailor the ribbon's properties to specific application requirements. Different bonding materials can be combined within a single ribbon to achieve functions such as water blocking, defined adhesion for controlled fiber separation, or enhanced mechanical robustness. The result is greater design flexibility and new possibilities for application-specific optical fiber ribbon configurations. This is more than an incremental improvement. It is a new degree of freedom in optical fiber ribbon engineering. 📘 Learn more in our latest article: https://lnkd.in/dtHdjQtp #OpticalFiber #FiberRibbon #IntermittentRibbon #IGF #FiberProcessing #OpticalFiberManufacturing #Engineering #Innovation #MedekAndSchörner
