At MEC Mining, our people are at the heart of everything we do. Today we’re spotlighting Samantha Hewton, Lead Consultant - Environment. Samantha has been with MEC for 3 years and is a key part of our environmental team, supporting clients with their environmental impact assessments, approvals, closure planning and environmental advice. With over 35 years of experience across mining, energy, and infrastructure, Samantha brings deep expertise spanning both environmental regulation and consulting. She has led environmental impact assessments, approvals strategies, and compliance programs for major resource projects in Queensland and internationally, and is known for her practical, outcomes-focused approach to navigating complex regulatory environments. Around the office, Samantha is known for her sharp eye for detail and her ability to untangle complex problems and bring clarity where it’s needed most. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, discovering new places to eat, and would happily have her chocolate Labrador, Coco, join her on every adventure.
