‼️ More than 200 cattle have disappeared from farms in eastern Germany in just a few weeks. ‼️ Not one or two animals. 233 ‼️ Police believe the thefts were carefully planned, involving livestock transport, detailed knowledge of farm operations, and possibly even aerial surveillance. That raises a bigger question: 👉 When does cattle theft stop being a local crime story and start becoming an organized business? For years, farm security focused on disease prevention, biosecurity, and animal welfare. Now some farmers are facing a different risk: the animals themselves have become the target. Breeding cattle can represent years of genetic selection and significant investment. Replacing them is often far more difficult than recovering their market value. Germany may be the latest case. But with livestock values remaining high across Europe, many farmers are asking the same question: Could this happen here too? Have you seen an increase in livestock theft or rural crime in your region?
