𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁-𝗼𝗳-𝘁𝗵𝗲-𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴” 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿, 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹. That's what the BMW M Motorsport works driver Max Hesse told us after a simulator session as part of his race preparation. We had the opportunity to look over his shoulder during the session – a special moment for us, as 𝗠𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗫 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 BMW M 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, providing the force feedback actuator solution that brings precisely this steering feel to life in the simulator. Grip, tyre condition and the fine line between control and loss of control – all of these must be conveyed through the steering system so that drivers and engineers can make the right setup decisions in the simulator to gain the competitive edge on track.
