There is a photo football fans will never forget. July 13, 2014. Argentina lose 1–0 to Germany in extra time. Lionel Messi wins the Golden Ball - best player of the World Cup - and still leaves without the trophy. He had already won everything with Barcelona. The one prize that would complete the story kept saying: not yet. Eight years. Not eight years of standing still. Eight years of: Another quarter-final pain (2010) already in the rearview Two Copa América final heartbreaks (2015, 2016) A Round of 16 exit to the team that would win it all (2018) A new project under Lionel Scaloni—not a quick fix, a rebuild A first senior title with Argentina (Copa 2021)—proof the system could win Then Qatar 2022: a final for the ages, penalties, and the lift every kid in Rosario imagined 2014 wasn’t failure. It was data. 2022 wasn’t luck. It was readiness. That’s the comparison we want builders to sit with: Quick-win culture asks: “Why don’t we have the trophy yet?” Product-led patience asks: “What must be true in the product—and the team—before this outcome is real and repeatable?” At Napplied, we’re not chasing a single launch-day screenshot. We’re building until users stay, outcomes compound, and the problem is actually solved—not demo’d. Messi didn’t need more hype in 2014. He needed more right work after it. If you’re in your 2014 season in product or company-building—what are you choosing to compound this year? #Messi #WorldCup #Argentina #Patience #ProductLed #Napplied #Leadership #Startup #BuildInPublic
