Congratulations to Hon Dr Andrew Charlton MP on being named the 2025 McKinnon Emerging Political Leader of the Year. In recognising Dr Charlton, the Selection Panel highlighted his thoughtful approach to public leadership, deep policy expertise and commitment to tackling some of Australia’s most significant long-term challenges, including the opportunities and implications of AI. Strong political leadership is defined not only by achievement, but by integrity, collaboration and the capacity to think beyond the immediate political cycle. Dr Charlton’s work exemplifies these qualities and reflects the kind of leadership Australia needs as we navigate an increasingly complex future.
