With post-quantum cryptography on the horizon, how will data protection frameworks keep up? And what does IP become when rapidly developing technologies like AI and quantum potentially outpace the legal system? That was something that was explored in panel discussions with Alex Hutchens and Melissa Miller at Quantum Australia’s Quantum Meets Law event in Brisbane. While large organisations may be able to dedicate resources to the challenge, smaller businesses may have fewer resources to identify and reduce vulnerabilities. The key takeaway from experts across the day, was that organisations should begin planning for the critical infrastructure, legal frameworks and privacy protections that cryptography requires. As quantum technologies continue to evolve, conversations like Quantum Meets Law will be critical to shaping Australia's future-ready legal and regulatory landscape.
