Organization: Vinlandferth is a Florida-based nonprofit founded by U.S. Marine Corps veteran Keith Alexander. Mission: Build and sail a historically accurate replica of a Gokstad Viking longship across the North Atlantic while raising awareness for veteran mental health and inspiring veterans through adventure and teamwork. Planned Voyage: Summer 2027, beginning in Roskilde, following the traditional Norse route through: Shetland Islands Faroe Islands Iceland Greenland L'Anse aux Meadows Montréal Chicago Down the Mississippi River to Pensacola. The expedition is expected to last 90–120 days and aims to become one of the longest modern voyages ever completed in a replica Viking longship, retracing the path associated with Erik the Red and the Norse voyages to North America. Long-term, Vinlandferth plans to establish a Viking village, museum, and educational center focused on history, craftsmanship, and veteran healing through shared purpose and adventure.
