J. Mike Jacka & Paulette J. Keller authored a book titled "Business Process Mapping". A must read for operations managers. With the approach prescribed in the book, your process documentation nightmares can be eliminated. Here's a snapshot of how a PROCESS can be subdivided into UNITS which can be subdivided into TASKS and ACTIVITIES. STANDARD PROCEDURES can be created for each activity.
