"This is US... This is Sudan" is one of my favorite projects as a music composer, directed by Mohamed Kordofani. I also handled the sound design and music production. Created in 2021, it’s an introductory film showcasing Sudan’s rich resources and diverse cultures, filmed in over 50 locations across the country. It was first screened at the Paris Conference to support Sudan’s transition to democracy. For the music I used the Tambour, a traditional Sudanese instrument, to connect the soundtrack to Sudan’s culture. Later in the piece, you’ll hear the Oud, a popular instrument in Sudan, played in the pentatonic scale. The angelic voice of Sulaf Elyas and the rich voice of Wad Abbo added even more emotion and warmth to my composition, making it truly reflect the spirit of Sudan.
