Quality & EHS Specialist | Compliance, Audits & Training | Chemical Engineer

Building a true safety culture is about leading with purpose, strategy, and empathy. 👷‍♀️✨ I recently found this video and it reminded me why I love this field so much. It brought back memories of all the hard work, teamwork, and creativity that went into building the EHS system for this project. Five years ago, I finished my time as an EHS Specialist at MAINVER, where I had the amazing opportunity to design and lead a safety strategy focused on our most important asset: our people. Looking at this video today, I feel so proud of the challenges we overcame. It reminds me that a good EHS system is not just a static manual, but a living culture that we work on every day on the ground. Here is a quick summary of the key things we did to get the team involved and reduce risks: 🔹 Strong Training for the Team: We created safety programs from scratch. We trained everyone on safe tool handling, practical First Aid/CPR, and emergency response. We also worked together with ICAVE’s environmental department to teach the team about protecting our environment. 🔹 Proactive Prevention: We started daily physical warm-ups before the shifts to make sure the team was ready and alert. We also added 5-minute safety talks led by the workers themselves to help them take ownership of their safety. 🔹 "Safe Work" Incentives: We checked PPE compliance, the 5S methodology, and the condition of the tools. Then, we rewarded and recognized the employees who showed great safety habits and commitment. 🔹 Connecting with Families: The best part was organizing a Family Day inside the port facilities. Letting the families see the operations helped everyone understand the real purpose of safety—reminding us that our main goal is making sure every worker goes home safe and sound at the end of the day. Even though time has passed and my career has grown, the mission of an EHS professional is always the same: protecting lives and creating safe workplaces. I am very proud of the impact we made and the leadership skills I developed during this project. Thank you to the whole MAINVER team who helped make this possible! What past projects do you look back on with pride in your career? 👇 #TBT #EHS #SafetyFirst #SafetyCulture #Leadership #WorkplaceSafety #CareerJourney #MAINVER #5S https://lnkd.in/eDzHfH2x
