How can we make materials simulations better reflect real-world experiments? We were pleased to welcome Thomas Swinburne for an inspiring lecture on "Bayes, Gibbs and Nye: Harnessing data and uncertainty to bring materials simulations closer to experiment." The talk explored how machine learning and AI are helping researchers tackle uncertainty in materials modelling, with insights spanning advanced simulations, multiscale modelling, dislocation theory, atomistic models and microstructure. At MPI-SusMat, our researchers combine expertise in both simulations and experiments to bridge the gap between computational predictions and real-world observations every day. We look forward to future collaborations with Thomas and to advancing this exciting field together. Stay tuned for upcoming new publications 😊 #materials #materialsscience #artificialintelligence #simulation
