THE SHAKERS: On Wednesday the 5th February 2020, I got a shock to discover that in 1964 the Argentine National Rock scene got invaded by LOS SHAKERS (The Shakers) from Montevideo, Uruguay that would soon rock Latin America as the Uruguayan Invasion. Los Shakers being formed in 1964 by two brothers, Hugo and Osvaldo Fattoruso, with Pelin Capobianco and Caio Vila. Prolific in record releases (EMI ‘Odeon’ label in Argentina) sung both in Spanish and English; "Ticket to Ride". The Shakers disbanded in 1969 and becoming more popular than a certain pop band storming the British Invasion into South America starting from "A Hard Day’s Night" in mid-1964. A lady from Uruguay told me, she with other children danced madly with excited joy in the Montevideo streets to Beatles music. Not knowing the English song lyrics, however, all loving the music. THE SHAKERS: HUGO FATTORUSO: lead vocals, guitar, piano, harmonica OSVALDO FATTORUSO: guitar, vocals ROBERTO "Pelín" CAPOBIANCO - bass & Bandoneon, backing vocals CARLOS "Caio" VILA: drums, backing vocals Below Photo: "Whom do the Four Shakers remind you of?" {Maybe four mop-tops from Liverpool?} A big clue to ‘Whom THE SHAKERS’ get their Band inspiration from.
