Developing a great palate is about far more than drinking wine. It’s about developing curiosity, discipline and judgement. Throughout my journey as a Engineer to Sommelier, I have learned that the best opportunities in the wine industry come from three simple but powerful principles: Explore – Research Never stop exploring. Study wine regions, grape varieties, producers, vintages and winemaking techniques. Compare different philosophies and keep an open mind. Knowledge is the foundation of every great decision. Taste – Verify Taste with purpose, not just for pleasure. Compare wines side by side, evaluate quality, understand balance and identify what makes each wine unique. Your palate is your most valuable professional tool. it must be trained continuously. Participate – Investigate Attend tastings, visit vineyards, meet winemakers, join masterclasses and trade fairs, and engage with fellow professionals. Every conversation and every experience adds another piece to the puzzle. Research helps you understand. Tasting helps you verify. Participation helps you discover. A sommelier’s education never ends. The more we learn, the more we realise there is still to discover. As I often say: Wine is civilization! @dosertwinefestival Andrea Rinaldi Virgilio Gennaro #Wine #Sommelier #WineEducation #WineBusiness #Hospitality #WineIndustry #WineTasting #LifelongLearning #DorsetWineFestival #WineCulture
