First responders are there for people in life’s hardest moments, without ever expecting anything in return. That’s why today, on Thank a First Responder Day 2026, we pause to recognise and thank those who work late nights and early mornings, on the front line and behind the scenes, helping to keep our communities safe. We also take this moment to remember those whose lives have been lost as a result of the work they did to protect others, including Simon Lund, pictured with his wife Tracie.
