A landmark win! The Federal Court of Australia has delivered a decisive judgment in favour of our client, Carley Scott, the former CEO of Equatorial Launch Australia. The Federal Court found that the company breached its contracts with our client and that she is entitled to over $2.3 million. Carley joined ELA in 2018, and under her leadership as CEO, the company progressed from a fledgling start-up to an organisation that secured the contract for NASA’s first commercial spaceport launch from any site outside America, working closely with the Traditional Owners of East Arnhem Land every step of the way. After her employment was unfairly terminated in 2022, the company refused to honour Carley’s contractual benefits and made serious and unfounded allegations against her. Carley fought back. After four years of hard-fought litigation, the Federal Court judgment is a complete vindication for our client, who was found to be a “credible and truthful” witness, and her evidence was accepted in full. The Federal Court rejected the company's serious allegations against our client and dismissed its arguments that our client had agreed to forgo her entitlements. MB's Imogen Szumer (Carley's lawyer since 2022) described the result as a testament to Carley's resilience through circumstances no worker should ever have to endure. Workers at every level are entitled to have their rights respected. Read more via ABC News: https://brnw.ch/21x3IPt
