Engineering resilience where nature sets the toughest challenges. We are proud to announce MAURER’s first-ever project approval in New Zealand, supplying expansion joints for the new Te Ahu a Turanga – Manawatū Tararua Highway. The project includes the EcoViaduct and the Parahaki Bridge, built in a region with significant seismic activity. To meet the demanding requirements, MAURER delivered modular MSM® expansion joints featuring our innovative fuse box technology, which provides additional movement reserves during major earthquake events while maintaining bridge functionality. Highlights of the project: - New Zealand’s largest expansion joints, allowing earthquake displacements of up to 1,505 mm - Advanced seismic protection for a bridge crossing an active fault zone - Noise-reducing design for improved driving comfort - Hot-dip galvanised corrosion protection for New Zealand’s harsh climate Designed for a service life exceeding 100 years, produced in Munich and installed in 2025, these expansion joints help ensure the long-term safety, durability and resilience of critical transport infrastructure. A big thank you to everyone involved in this remarkable project, including the New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) and the Te Ahu a Turanga Alliance. #MAURER #EngineeringExcellence #Infrastructure #BridgeEngineering #EarthquakeEngineering #SeismicProtection #ExpansionJoints #CivilEngineering #Innovation #TransportationInfrastructure #NewZealand #BridgeConstruction #StructuralEngineering #MadeInMunich #EngineeringForLife
