Creating a mid-season finale for a series like All In: IndyCar forces you to look at the narrative arc of a season as a whole. Our latest episode just dropped, and it is a true reflection of the chaos, luck, and raw human emotion that defines this sport. When you look back at the biggest stage in motorsports, the stories write themselves. We focused heavily on the immense emotional weight of drivers like Pato O’Ward and Scott McLaughlin trying to exorcise their demons at the Brickyard. Documenting that level of vulnerability and high-stakes pressure was a profound experience. But the real beauty of documentary filmmaking is that the best stories are often the ones you never planned for. We hadn't originally intended to highlight Felix Rosenqvist until the Mid-Ohio race—a pseudo-home track for Meyer Shank Racing. But through pure serendipity and a bit of racing luck, Felix found himself in Victory Lane, celebrating a massive moment right after the birth of his daughter. You simply cannot script a human moment that perfect. This human-first philosophy is exactly what Kaitlin Tucci captured in her recent deep-dive feature for Sports Illustrated, highlighting how we are shifting the paradigm of sports storytelling. Seeing our creative vision recognized on that level is incredibly grounding. I owe a massive debt of gratitude to Philip Byron, Gilad Haas, and the leadership team for bringing me into the fold and trusting me to help guide this vision. An episode of this scale takes an absolute army, and I am lucky to share the trenches with the best crew in the business: My co-director Ryan Lohuis, who masterfully led our post-production process to bring this massive narrative together. Our incredible edit team, Alex Amoling and Ben Stone, who turned mountains of footage into a seamless, high-octane story. Director of Photography Derek Mindler for keeping our visuals immaculate, and camera operator Tony Schiavone, who literally waded into the chaotic Snake Pit with me to capture the perfect shot. Our line producer Maria Marsili, whose tireless, behind-the-scenes effort kept production completely seamless so the creative team could focus entirely on the story.
