People of LinkedIn. Settle a petty debate for me: Let’s say I was ranked #1 worldwide in something in 2025, but I am no longer ranked #1 in 2026. Am I still ‘The #1 ranked {thing} in the world’? Or was I ‘Ranked #1 in the world in 2025’? For context: I see so many companies / creators / products calling themselves ‘The #1 ranked’ for something they were ranked #1 in months or years gone by. This is misleading and false marketing. Just like if a business has generated $1M over 5 years, that is not a $1M business. It’s a business that has generated $1M in 5 years. Entirely different things. I see this kinda stuff everywhere and it’s crazy misleading and unethical marketing. P.S. I’ve been in marketing for 15 years, managed marketing campaigns for 2 x companies that generated £30M per year, studied marketing, gained multiple marketing qualifications and have been marketing my own business for the last 4 having driven over $1M for my own business. I am not just plucking this out of thin air or a random bozo :)
