🌍 “I only wanted to go abroad for a short while – and somehow ended up writing a textbook about it.” ✈️📘   From the very first idea during my research stay at the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford to the first drafts written at Boston University School of Law and the completion of the manuscript at the Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Privatrecht and Bucerius Law School – after countless hours of research and many inspiring conversations, the time has finally come: My first publication 📖 “Der Auslandsaufenthalt” (“The Stay Abroad”) is now available for pre-order (Link: https://lnkd.in/eCN6-F6W). The book aims to guide law students and graduates in taking the leap abroad at every stage of their legal education – from applying for an exchange semester, an LL.M., or for PhD students or Post Docs the possibility for a research stay, to completing a legal traineeship abroad. It provides a detailed roadmap from the initial idea to implementation and introduces numerous prestigious universities, including Harvard Law School,Cambridge Faculty of Law, Columbia Law School, Boston University School of Law, Yale Law School, McGill University, University of Melbourne, KU Leuven, Max Planck Law and more.   It also highlights how one can complete a foreign traineeship during the Referendariat – whether at international law firms, the Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany, United Nations or German Chambers of Commerce Abroad. In addition, the book provides detailed guidance on how to apply to the 13 major German scholarship foundations (Begabtenförderungswerke) and other foundations.   A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who has supported this project over the past year: ✨Ole Köster, Jasmin Zimmermann, Luzi Hillert, Dr. Lennard Posser, Dr. Luisa Rödemer, Jakob Olbing, and Dr. Jan-Willem Koldehofe – for sharing your experiences and insights 🎓Many thanks also to the Max Planck Institute, and to Lena Johannes, Inga D., and @Annalena from the International Office at Bucerius Law School for your support. I would also like to thank Prof. Dr. Jens Pruetting, who has supported this project from the very beginning with invaluable advice, encouragement, and tireless commitment – without him, this book would not have come to life.   Finally, my sincere thanks to Dr. Peter Schmidt and Dr. Marco Ganzhorn from Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft for making this publication possible.   I hope “Der Auslandsaufenthalt” inspires readers to think about their legal careers in a truly international context – and perhaps to take that first step abroad 🌍📘 Meinhard Weizmann, Michael Grünberger, Reinhard Bork, Felix Steffek, Amanda Amazu, Daria Bayer, Dr. Jan-Robert Schmidt, Dr. Hannes Jacobi, Dr. Jannina Schäffer, Michael Hies, e-fellows.net, Schweitzer Fachinformationen, JURios
