What an honor to receive this year's AO Trauma Switzerland Science Award 2025! 🏆 Our paper on risk factors for perioperative myocardial infarction/injury (PMI) and mortality following surgical treatment of proximal femur fractures 🦴 ❤️🩹 was selected among many outstanding submissions at the AO Trauma Switzerland Annual Meeting in Fribourg. In this study, published in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Inc. Open, we showed that PMI occurred in nearly 1 in 4 patients with proximal femur fractures and was associated with a significantly higher 1-year mortality (https://lnkd.in/gp8Y58b7). Special thanks to my friend and mentor PD Dr. Mario Morgenstern for presenting our study on my behalf. I would also like to thank AO Trauma Switzerland and the current president Ruth Gremminger for this recognition, as well as the entire team at University Hospital Basel involved in this study - Marc-Antoine Burch, Christian Puelacher, Florian Halbeisen, Prof Dr. med. Martin Clauss, Andreas Mueller & Prof. Christian Müller and the CRIB study team! #fracture #hip #orthopaedics
